Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya

Service typically Russian, but in a Hilton one expects Western standards - a brief attitude, long queue for check in, and, frankly, an exemplification of the sort of curt behaviour one may expect in an average Russian hotel, but not a Hilton!

Great hotel with all the necessary facilities, friendly staff and good location.

I was going to spend a weekend in Moscow and needed a place to stay for 1 night on Apr 21, 2018: the price was good, reviews were great and the location was perfect: just 5 min away from Leningradsky train station. However, when I arrived there, I was refused to be checked in as I didn't have my Original migration card with me. I left it in St Petersburg where I stayed for 2 weeks, as this requirement was mentioned neither on Hilton's nor on Expedia's websites. Any suggestions to provide an electronic copy was refused as they insisted they did need to see Original document. The staff, although polite, bluntly refused to provide any alternative solution for my situation and simply showed me the door. They, however, promised to refund my payment (already received by Hilton). As a result, I had to cancel all my Sunday's appointments and to exchange my train ticket for the one on Saturday's return train to St Petersburg. The next day I received an e-mail from Expedia saying that HIlton refused to return my money as my booking was "non-refundable" (although it wasn't me who cancelled it). Expedia contacted this hotel trying to talk some sense into them, but they were adamant: no refund. Expedia was gracious enough to refund my money which I very appreciated. Needless to say that I won't return to Hilton Moscow nor would I recommend anyone to stay there: they won't be there for you in case you get into difficult/unfortunate situation in a foreign country/unfamiliar city.

Situated in the smallest of Stalin’s seven sisters the hotel offers a typical Hilton experience with Russian hospitality. It’s well located close to the metro which makes getting to all the major sights easy and the stations to St Petersburg, Kazan and where the Trans siberian departs are clustered together across the road from the hotel. I found lots of good cafes and shops close by. The pool and sauna area is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are large but I found the bed and pillows uncomfortable and the room temperature was too hot and I was not able to get the air conditioning to work. The large windows open which is good for cooling but it’s too noisy to keep them open and I think rather dangerous to allow them to open at this height. Room service was excellent quality and delivered with friendly, efficient service.

Made a last minute decision to change our reservation to the Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya after our overnight flight from Moscow, only a few blocks from the Leningradskaya Station where we were boarding the train to St. Petersburg the following morning. Our initial hotel was nowhere as close to the station as we had been led to believe. The change was worth it in every way imaginable.

I stay four nights.. under standard of HILTON, e.g. I drink coffee in the room, next day, the mate didn't replace the coffee the tooth brush, that we had asked for, were poor quality, then we had to ask for the tooth brush every day some day, there was only one towel in the room, (we booked double room for two people)

This is a very special hotel, located in one of Stalin’s ‘seven sisters’ (built from 1947 to showcase Soviet power post WW2). Everything, from the grand yet ambient lobby, to the brilliantly appointed rooms, cannot be faulted. Staff were unfailingly polite and attentive yet not intrusive. My room was on the 18th floor and overlooked the main square, with the equally historic Komsomolskaya metro station below. The hotel’s facilities are a lovely balance between comfort and class; everything from the spa to impeccable room service was perfect. Thanks for everything, I will be back.
