Avanti International Resort

We booked for 14 days and stayed for 4. I wouldn’t even go as far as to call this a hotel. It is a dirty unsafe-feeling motel at best. The pictures online couldn’t be more inaccurate of what the hotel really looks like. Police were in the car park during the night frequently and the smell of weed flooding the room from people smoking on the outside balcony all through the night was really not the family holiday we expected. The floors and sides were filthy, bathroom door did not shut, mould around the skirting boards. In the 4 days we managed to push through staying here, the room was maintained once and we were given a fresh towel after having to use the same one each for the entire duration. The sand area by the pool was filthy, plasters in the sand. One of the rooms we had, had the electric fuse 3 times and the hairdryer did not work in our room, the ironing board had no cover. The third room had a view of a wall with all the pipe work running up it that was right outside the room. The staff on the desk were less than friendly and not at all shocked that we were checking out early as this is obviously a common occurrence, so no need to try to accommodate. And the resort tax is a whopping fee that is not expected. We had 3 bookings amongst our family and we were all charged different amounts of tax even though it’s supposed to be a flat rate per night’s stay so cannot see that this is regulated. All of the poor reviews on here could not be more accurate and I wish I had taken their word for it when booking this hotel. Fortunately virgin holidays were prompt in getting us moved to another hotel within 24 hours of logging a complaint. So although this kept a positive experience with Virgin as a company, I cannot understand given the amount of people that have left early and complained that virgin still list this “hotel”.

We arrived for a 2 week stay as we were after a centrally located hotel. Upon arrival at 15:00 which was stated on our paper work we were told that no rooms were ready and check in was at 16:00 and told to go away till then. When we arrived back at 16:30 we were then told again there was no room ready for us and we would have to go away again, after stating we already had, we were offered in the receptionist words a "handicap room". When we arrived at the room there were large groups of men hanging around outside of the rooms drinking and smoking. In the room it's self surfaces were dirty and the entire floor felt it had a oily surface, the room door itself had a gap all the way round and you could smell the weed being smoked by the group outside. The second room we were offered was no better and was offered a 3rd in another block which we took as by now it was late and we were tired, this was cleaner but the gap down the side of the door was large enough you could fit a finger and we had to use a towel to block it and cut some of the noise from the I4. Our holiday provider was contacted and found us alternative accommodation. Upon check-out the staff seemed disinterested even when we enquired about the resort fees being refunded which we are still waiting for.

No towels by pool, room was probably not done with cleaning yet a worker tried coming in the room not long after we got in the room. Room was mid. The Last night we stayed the room had a horrid pot smell lingering in from other rooms and this morning when we left someone was hanging over the railings in nothing but their underwear. Who are you letting stay in the avanti? The maintenance was lacking and we stayed in the avanti in the past and everything was kept well what happened ?

Lack of complete cleaning specially the bathroom was very nasty, the tub was full of mold to the point we had to use flip flops to shower and don’t touch anything around the bathroom

The bed was extremely uncomfortable; the room wasn't as clean as it should have been (hair all over the bathroom floor and sink area) and the ceiling in the bathroom shower area wasn't repaired too well had a little of a hang-down from the patch work. Other than these small details our stay was pleasant. We stayed in room 3239.
