Holiday Inn Express Dublin City Centre by IHG

Staff was amiable and helpful. Murray’s pub and restaurant next door was terrific. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable.

Small detail. The few steps from the lobby to elevator were awkward with bags. Why not a ramp?

A newer hotel with a wonderful lobby and fresh rooms. Only concern is that it is at the edge of the tourist area at the north end of O’Connell Street which appeared to be a bit seedy. You need to use your room key to open the door at any time of day, and then there is an employee watching the entry to guard against someone following you in. The elevators are near the entry and you need to unlock the door into the elevator lobby with your room key as well. I did not feel unsafe at any time. A nice benefit of the hotel is that it had an American style buffet breakfast which we appreciated since we were heading to the airport early that morning. Air coach to the airport pick-up location was almost directly across the street. Another benefit, although it is not a hotel restaurant, right next door is Murray’s, a great restaurant with Irish music and dancing. Not a historic pub, but it is designed to look and feel like one.
