Valamar Argosy Hotel

Breakfast was great, lobby bar was good.

Very busy pool, not value for money as quite expensive for average room. Told us we’d be able to check in early but took them a few hours before it was actually available.

The staff and location were wonderful

Good that it is a child-free hotel. The breakfasts were good.

A very disappointing experience for a hotel in this price category. The room cleaning was not acceptable: the floor was not properly cleaned or vacuumed. We asked for extra towels, but our first request was completely ignored. Only after asking a second time was our request finally fulfilled. The toilet paper was not replaced after it ran out. The toilet flush button was also in very poor condition, looking old and worn, with visible oxidation marks. One day they forgot to clean the room. The rooms were only apparently cleaned, in reality they were dusty and dirty in some places. Regarding the room, we were expecting a room with a private balcony, but only after arrival did we find out that the balcony was shared with the neighboring rooms. This was not clearly communicated beforehand. The bed was also disappointing: instead of a proper double bed, there were two separate beds pushed together, which easily slide apart and are not comfortable. The food quality was below expectations as well. Several dishes were not prepared properly, and all desserts were tasteless. During dinner, we asked for a simple jug of water, but this was not provided. It is surprising that this is not included in a half-board package at this price level, forcing guests to buy expensive bottled drinks instead. When someone pays more than 1,000 euros for a few days’ stay, they expect a much higher standard of service, cleanliness, and attention to detail.

The pool area was stunning with two huge pools and plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. The views were spectacular with views of the mountains, nearby islands and the continuous traffic of cruise ships and other sailing vessels. The food was plentiful and varied with several live cooking stations at both breakfast and dinner. The rooms were comfortable with lots of storage

Generally, the decor could do with a refresh. It was looking a bit tired in places. There was a poolside restaurant and a bar which as long as you wanted pizzas was great. However, it would be nice if there was somewhere to get a sandwich or a more snack alternative. Perhaps the Oliva restaurant could extend their menu to include more snack food like sandwiches and salads

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Dubrovnik. The hotel is a great location with some breathtaking views taking views of the coastline. The hotel was clean and the facilities were spot on. We had bed and breakfast and the choice was great, plenty of freshly cooked food and a great choice of salads and fruit. The rooms were modern and comfortable and they were cleaned daily. I would definitely stay here again when we return, nothing is too much trouble and the staff are friendly and helpful
