Motel & Rasthof Grunewald

Traveling by car , you have to be early there are to less parking options. It is not the best option to have a room on the front side , because the hotel is located on a road which is busy with trucks at daybreak.

This hotel is just beside a forest and within walking distance of beautiful Wannsee lake. It is ideal for anyone who likes jogging walking bird watching as there are numerous paths in the forest. You can walk in 20 minutes to a private beach located in a huge park with very good facilities and very good management. The nearest Train station is easy walking distance. The hotel has a café which serves food and nearby is a restaurant with a very extensive menu. The room was spacious and comfortable and clean and the bird song at night was particularly beautiful.

Me and my family went there and had a wonderful time. I would like to complement the staff for being extremely helpful. The only fault though is the location. It's next to the highway, but that was fine with us.

Yes, it is on a service station, so what. The room is sound proof. It had good wifi. I slept like a baby. Went across the road for dinner and breakfast and there was nothing to complain. It had a bed, room was clean, good powerful shower and 10 minutes from Tegel airport. I will come again if the occasion asks for it.

This is a good hotel. I booked this hotel because it was very close to German friends of mine who live close by. The biggest room they have is for three persons so being a family of four (twin 6 yr old girls) and having a room with 3 beds was not ideal. I think they should look at getting a sofabed pullout like at Premier Inn and Travelodge in the UK so four persons can have a bed, the room was certainly large enough to accommodate this. The decor whilst dated was fine, it was clean and well serviced by the housekeeping staff who did their best to accommodate our need for still water and not the sparkling water that most people in Berlin seem to prefer. The breakfast buffet was very good, plenty of choice. We didn't eat any other meals at the hotel but based on breakfast I would happily have done so if time permitted. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the S-Bahn station Nikolassee and Central Berlin is less than 30 minute journey away with very cheap travelcards available. The hidden gem close by has to be Lake Wannsee Beach which is just a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

Luckily only stayed one night. Location is poor it is next to the highway, opposite a gas-station, neighbors a Burgerking....! Staff doesn't speak a foreign language are grumpy and as tired as the hotel.. Room decor and furniture/bathroom date back to the sixties and is not retro... For the 60 euro i paid you can have much better places in Berlin.

The reason I have given the Cleanliness a poor rating is that the room given to me was a Smoking Room that had the taint of stale cigarette use, didn't realise, and in reflection, wasn't given a choice at check-in either, apart from this, the room etc was clean. The room was okay and the dinner that evening was good as too the breakfast. Friendly staff and if given the choice I'd use it again, but, only if there are Non-Smoking rooms available.

The Grunewald Motel is well located, next to the S-Bahn station. The room was clean and the staff friendly. However there is no wireless internet access in the rooms, which can be important to know.
